Woman attacked behind village shops

A thug crept up on a young woman, punched her in the face and ran off, police have said.

The victim, in her 20s, was walking in a car park to the rear of shops at Cherry Trees, Hartley, when she was attacked.

The woman suffered bruising to her face and a cut lip, but nothing was taken from her.

She did not see her attacker.

Police are appealing for information about the assault, which happened on Tuesday, August 26, between 8.35pm and 9pm.

Det Con Gareth Skinner said: “I would like to ask anyone who was in the area at the time this happened to contact me if they saw anyone acting suspiciously or running off.”
