A woman has been charged with failing to stop after a pregnant pedestrian was injured in an alleged hit and run.

Caroline Freemantle, 26, of Waverley Avenue, Minster, on the Isle of Sheppey, was yesterday charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident.

It follows an incident in Queenborough Road on Monday, April 1, when Cherise Bowerman was alleged to have been hit by a car at Queenborough Corner.

Ms Freemantle has been bailed to appear at Sittingbourne Magistrates Court on Friday, June 25.
