Woman falls overboard from cross-Channel ferry

by Jo Sword

A woman had to be rescued from the English Channel last night after falling from a cross-Channel ferry.

It happened at about 8.10pm seven miles off Dover.

The crew on board the ship notified the coastguard who mobilised a rescue helicopter and lifeboat.

The ferry did a u-turn and launched a fast rescue craft which rescued the woman from the sea.

The helicopter was then stood down.

The ferry returned to Dover where she was taken to hospital by ambulance.
