A woman airlifted to hospital after being hit by a train at Chatham station has had a foot amputated, according to her brother.
The 33-year-old, believed to be from the town, was taken to the Royal London Hospital with serious leg injuries after being struck on Friday morning.
A Kent Air Ambulance spokesman said the woman also suffered burns from a live rail.
Her brother, Jag Nijjer, said: "I don't know exactly what happened or why.
"However, I do know that I'm sat here as my sister, who we all love dearly, is recovering from this tragic event.
"Just to set the record straight, she is going to be fine. Her feet were very badly damaged by the accident and they could not save the right foot, which had to be amputated.
"I would like to thank all who have been supportive at this very difficult time."
Police were called at about 11.20am after witnesses saw a woman being struck by the 10.05am Dover Priory to London Victoria service.
Services were cancelled and the station was reopened at 1pm after some passengers had spent up to an hour stuck on their train. British Transport Police, Medway Police, paramedics and the Kent Air Ambulance all attended the scene.
A British Transport Police spokesman said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
