Woman hurt in pile-up on M2

TRAFFIC came to a standstill after a multi-vehicle pile-up on the M2 in which a woman was injured.

A lorry and several cars collided on the London-bound carriageway between junction four for Gillingham and junction three for Chatham at around 7.35 am on Thursday.

Crews from Medway fire and Sittingbourne ambulance stations were called to the scene and the junction was eventually closed.

Kent Police say the woman was taken to hospital with minor head injuries.

A motorist caught up in the tailback said: “Everything ground to a halt just after the Medway Services, where the motorway is coned off to narrow lanes for roadworks.”
