Woman in critical condition after road smash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision left a woman with life threatening injuries.

Officers were called at 11.10pm on Thursday to reports of a collision in Church Street in Whitstable.

A red Peugeot 106 was being driven by a woman along Church Street from the direction of the railway bridge towards Ivy House Road. The driver lost control, struck a brick wall and the car turned onto its side.

The woman, who is in her 30s and from the Whitstable area, suffered serious injuries. Her condition at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital at Margate this morning is described as stable but critical.

Officers from Kent Police’s serious collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses who saw this event to contact them on 01622 798538.
