For one forgetful couple it was the mother of all mistakes.

On a cross-Channel day trip to France they suddenly realised they'd accidently left behind a loved one.

In a frantic call to Port of Dover police, the pair told officers they'd forgotten their elderly mum.

The pensioner was still in their car, parked up in a multi-storey - all alone.

But thankfully police managed to find the motor and make sure the elderly woman was looked after until her relatives returned, several hours later.

They were ferry lucky...
