A woman had to be rescued from the sea by police while the air ambulance circled overhead.

The 30–year–old was taken by land ambulance to Medway Maritime Hospital after the incident which happened near Alma Road, Sheerness, at 4.45pm yesterday (Wednesday).

The air ambulance circled for about 10 minutes in case it was needed but it was not.
