A HEROIC care worker risked his life as he climbed into a burning car to save an injured woman after an accident.
Rikki Barnes, 28, clambered through the smashed back windscreen and pulled her free after the crash in Bad Munstereifel Road, Sevington, Ashford, on Monday.
He and his colleague Malcolm Thompson, both team leaders at the Wild Acres residential home in Steeds Lane, Kingsnorth, were taking three young men from the home swimming when they saw smoke coming from the car.
It had ended up on its side on the Orbital Park roundabout after the crash just before 8pm.
The two carers, who work with men with learning and behavioural difficulties, dashed over to help while the other three – Reggie Talmey, Derek Liddiard and Craig Deakin – diverted traffic away from the crash scene.
