Woman seriously hurt crossing road

A 74-year-old pensioner has been seriously injured in a road accident.

The woman was trying to cross the busy Maidstone Road at Rochester, at the junction with King Edward Road at about 7.15pm on Tuesday evening. She was struck by a purple Ford Mondeo being driven by a middle-aged man.

The woman, from Rochester, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with a suspected fractured skull. She also suffered injuries to her legs.
