Woman seriously hurt in A-road smash

A woman was airlifted to hospital on Tuesday after a road crash in Kent.

Police were called at around 6.55am following an accident on the Goudhurst Road, Cranbrook.

The incident involved a silver Renault Clio and a Saab. A 22-year-old woman has been taken to Kings Hospital in London by air ambulance with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The A262 was closed between the B2085 and A229 while emergency services deal with the incident. It reopened at around 11.45am.

PC Guy Miller, who is leading the investigation, said: "I want to hear from anyone that may have witnessed the incident, or who may have passed the two cars involved.

"I would particularly like to speak with the drivers of a small black car and a woman driver of a red taxi who may have valuable information that could help police with their investigation."

Meanwhile, on the M20, there were lengthy delays after an Audi and a White Iveco lorry crashed on the Londonbound slip road of junction 7.

A police spokesman said there were no serious injuries and the road reopened at around 9.30am.
