A 30-year-old woman suffered head injuries in an assault in Chatham on Saturday evening.

Police cordoned off the alleyway between Constitution Road and Chatham Hill after the incident, which happened between 10pm and 11.30pm.

A spokesman would not say whether the woman had been taken to hospital, but did confirm she was receiving treatment for her injuries.

Two officers in police cars were guarding the scene yesterday.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information to call 01634 884011.
