Woman tricked by bogus policemen

DETECTIVES in West Kent are appealing for information after a woman was conned by two men posing as police officers.

The two men called at the door of the woman in Oliver Road, Swanley, on January 17 at about 10pm.

When she asked who it was they said they were policemen. As the woman started to open the door the men pushed passed her and went into the house.

One of them pushed the woman and held her by the shoulders demanding to know where her money was.

The woman pulled free and went to the front door where she started shouting for help. As she did so the men ran off. The only thing missing was a mobile phone.

The victim was shaken by the incident but not hurt.

Det Con Ben Turner said: "A police officer will carry a number of means of identification and will not mind waiting while a householder checks their identity is genuine. If anyone who was in the area when this incident happened has any information or saw anyone acting suspiciously I would ask them to contact police as they may have information that will be help our investigation."
