A man was reportedly pursued in a car chase after he refused to empty his pockets during an attempted robbery.
The occupants of a silver VW allegedly made demands of the complainant in Military Road, Ramsgate, near the harbour.
But he refused to hand over his belongings, fled to his car and drove away at about 8.45pm on December 19.
Yet he was then pursued by the suspects, who are said to have driven dangerously, for more than three miles across the town
A police spokesman said: “His vehicle was then followed to Margate by the silver VW, which reportedly drove dangerously along the route.
“During the incident, the victim’s car window was damaged.
“The victim was able to drive to Margate police station, and the offenders drove away.”
Police recovered the suspects’ vehicle and arrested a 20-year-old man from Margate on Sunday. He has been bailed pending further inquiries.
A spokesman added: “Officers would like to speak to anyone who might have seen or heard anything in the harbour area of Ramsgate, or witnessed the two vehicles in Bromstone Road in Broadstairs, Connaught Road in Margate or St Peter’s Road in Margate.”
