Wycombe 1 Charlton 2

Nicky Bailey's goal 13 minutes from time earned Charlton their first League 1 win in four matches at Wycombe on Saturday.

The Addicks captain lashed the ball home after his initial effort had been blocked to secure a 2-1 victory and cut Leeds' lead at the top of the table to six points.

It was a huge bonus for the Addicks who had seen Jonjo Shelvey's early goal cancelled out by Jon-Paul Pittman midway through the second half.

Wycombe, who got a point at Leeds in their last outing, should have led as early as the third minute when Stuart Beavon raced clear after a slip by Christian Dailly, but he somehow contrived to shoot wide.

The opening goal came on 11 minutes when Shelvey - restored to the starting line-up - finished well after being superbly found by Lloyd Sam.

Pitman, who got the hosts' goal at the leaders last week, equalised in the 64th minute after some neat footwork - but it was Charlton's inspirational skipper who would have the final say.

Charlton: Elliot, Llera, Semedo, Basey, Omozusi (Richardson 68), Dailly, Bailey, Shelvey, Sam, Burton (McKenzie 74), Mooney (Dickson 66). Subs not used: Randolph, Wagstaff, Racon, Spring.

Attendance: 6,123.
