BATMAN and Robin chasing Del Boy's distinctive yellow three-wheeler outside a Kent school first thing in the morning is not a sight you would normally expect.

But it was one of the weird and wonderful methods of transport that school leavers adopted when they arrived at The Charles Dickens School in Broadstairs for their last day in Year 11 before leaving to study for their GCSEs.

An impressive range of vintage, veteran, classic and ultra modern cars were on show as youngsters marked the last day in style.

At neighbouring St George's School in the town, a student in a gorilla suit in a cage on a trailer and a helicopter were included at a similar event on their last day.

St George's principal Keith Rumblo said: "It never ceases to amaze us how our year 11 students arrive on leavers' day.

"Each year group tries hard to make their mark and outdo their predecessors. They show great imagination."

Charles Dickens head teacher Andrew Olsson agreed. He said: "It was quite a colourful spectacle and was a lovely way for the students to remember their last day at school."
