A young motorcyclist has been killed in a road crash in Rochester.

The 25 year-old from Chatham suffered fatal injuries when his Suzuki bike collided with a Vauxhall Tigra in Laker Road.

The smash happened just before 12.20pm yesterday.

No one else suffered injuries. Officers closed the road to allow the serious collision investigation team to examine the area.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward as floral tributes are left at the scene.

PC Guy Miller, who is leading the investigation, said: "Initial indications suggest that a black motorcycle, travelling along Laker Road towards Blue Bell Hill, collided with a silver car travelling in the same direction, at the junction with Lankester Parker Road.

"Unfortunately, the motorcyclist, a local man, died at the scene. We would like to speak with anyone that may have seen the collision, or events leading up to the incident, as they could help us with our enquiries.

"We would also like to take this opportunity to thank residents and workers for their patience after we closed the surrounding roads to allow us to carry out forensic investigations."

Anyone who may have seen the collision is asked to phone the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit's witness appeal line on 01622 798538.

Did you know the man? Leave your tributes below or phone the newsroom on 01634 227803.
