A 19-year-old man was found dead on the railway line in the Aerodrome Road area of Bekesbourne, near Canterbury, last night.

A British Transport Police spokesman said the man was hit by the 7.11pm London to Dover train. There are no suspicious circumstances.

A Kent police spokesman said it was believed the man lived locally. The police have appealed for witnesses and anyone who saw anything should ring 0800 445040.

The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.
