As the countdown to the opening of Turner Contemporary
continues, young people have told KentOnline they hope Margate's
new art gallery will breathe new life into this once bustling
seaside town.

The £17 million building is one of the biggest regeneration
projects ever undertaken in Thanet and is seen as pivotal to the
future success of the isle.

Crucially, it also hopes to inspire a new generation of artists
through special activities, exhibitions and events, and give local
people a greater sense of pride in their community.

In the second of our week-long series of reports, students and
teachers at Hartsdown Technology College, Margate, reveal their
hopes for the town's future, while Turner Contemporary's head of
learning explains how young people can get involved in the
gallery.
