The cream of Thanet’s youth are taking to the stage in a new production of the creepy gothic horror musical Jekyll and Hyde at the Granville Theatre, Ramsgate. The young people, all under 19, are coming from all over the island to take part in the production – and now they have a chance to be in the film of the musical, too. Lisa Payne, the musical’s director, said: “It’s being planned to make a movie of Jekyll and Hyde and this gives the present cast a golden opportunity to stake a claim to make it to the silver screen.” The same cast were behind the much praised sell-out production of Les Miserables in Thanet last year. The musical tells a gripping story of Dr Henry Jekyll’s descent as he attempts to split ‘good from evil’ and through a chemical formula, becomes the terrifying Edward Hyde. Lisa said: “There are fantastic songs, stylish choreography and an extremely talented young cast - and a love triangle. No audience could ask for more.” Jekyll and Hyde is at the Granville Theatre, from Wednesday, July 23, to Saturday, July 26, at 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm Saturday matinee.
