Young woman in court over £53m robbery

A 25-year-old Romanian woman has appeared in court in connection with the country’s biggest ever robbery.

Warehouse worker Raluca Millen, of Dudley Road, Tunbridge Wells, is the seventh person to be charged over the £53 million heist at the Securitas depot in Tonbridge in February.

She appeared at Maidstone Crown Court via a video link with Bromsfield Prison in Ashford, Middlesex.

Speaking with the assistance of an interpreter, Millen spoke to confirm her name and that she understood the proceedings.

Prosecutor Simon Ringrose told the court that blonde-haired Millen, faces charges of conspiracy to rob and conspiracy to kidnap.

A bail application made on her behalf was refused by Judge Andrew Patience QC during the 20-minute hearing.

One other woman and five men have also been charged in connection with the raid in which depot manager Colin Dixon, his wife Lynn, and their young son were kidnapped.

Car salesman John Fowler, 60, of Elderden Farm, Chart Hill Road, Staplehurst, roofer Lea Rusha, 33, of Lamberhurst Close, Tunbridge Wells, unemployed Jetmir Bucpapa, 24, of Hadlow Road, Tonbridge, car salesman Stuart Royle, 47, of Allen Street, Maidstone, Ermir Hysenaj, 27, of New Road, Crowborough, East Sussex, and hairdresser Kim Shackleton, 38, of Allen Street, Maidstone, are accused of a mixture of charges including conspiracy to rob, kidnap and handling stolen goods.

All seven defendants, including Millen, will appear in the dock at Maidstone Crown Court on June 12.
