A terrified young woman was taken to hospital after a brick was lobbed at her windscreen.

Shattered glass cut Georgina Hillier's wrist and shards went into her eyes in the attack.

The 23-year-old was a passenger in her parnter Ian Barnard's car on the M25 near the Dartford Crossing tolls when she noticed two men standing on a bridge.

As they passed under the Watling Street bridge, in Dartford, at just before 1pm on Sunday a brick was thrown - shattering the windscreen.

Driver Mr Barnard stopped immediately and the two men fled towards Greenhithe.

Ms Hillier was taken to Darent Valley Hospital for treatment. Mr Barnard did not suffer any injuries.

Kent Police have now launched an investigation.

Sgt Sarah Rivett said: "This young woman has suffered a terrifying experience which could have resulted in considerable injuries.

"She has been lucky and the medical treatment she has received will ensure no lasting damage from the incident.

"We would like to appeal to anyone who may have further information in relation to this incident.

"We must prevent something like this from happening again. Next time the victim may not be so lucky."

Anyone with information is asked to phone police on 101 or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
