Young eco warriors are hoping to put the brakes on children being driven to their school after staging a protest outside the gates.
More than 40 children at Hextable Primary School took to the bottom of Rowhill Road and St David's Road waving "Walk to School" banners in a bid to encourage other students to ditch their parents' cars.
The school, which says it is plagued by congestion at dropping off and picking up times, wants more youngsters to walk or cycle to and from classes.
Vikki Hampton, the school's personal, social and health education (PSHE) co-ordinator, said: "Every Wednesday we have walk to school monitors who count the amount of cars outside our school from 8.45am to 9am.
"We are hoping our protest will have made an impact and that the amount of children being driven to school will have decreased."
