Charlton Athletic remain unbeaten in the Championship but had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon.
The Addicks sit sixth in the table after a seventh draw in their 11 games so far, after letting an early lead slip against the beleaguered Blues on a day when they had to do without experienced Israeli defender Tal Ben Haim who was observing the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur.
Igor Vetokele put the hosts ahead after just 11 minutes with a bullet header from a cross from Frederic Bulot.
Vetokele curled another effort narrowly wide of Darren Randolph’s post after escaping marker David Edgar while youngster Koby Arthur saw a goal ruled-out for the visitors following a run from Paul Caddis on 33 minutes, with Clayton Donaldson controversially adjudged to have been offside in the build-up.
After the turnaround Vetokele turned provider, teeing up Lawrie Wilson, only for the midfielder to fire high over the bar.
At the other end Stephen Henderson denied a header from Paul Robinson, but couldn’t prevent David Davis levelling the scores eight minutes into the second half with a shot on the turn from an angle.
It was the visitors who looked the likelier winners and Wes Thomas spurned a good chance to claim all three points for the 20th-placed Blues, slipping when well placed in the box.
