CHARLTON manager Alan Pardew continued wheeling and dealing late into Thursday night ahead of Friday's closure of the transfer window.
After completing the loan signings of former Addicks favourite Danny Mills from Manchester City and central defender Sam Sodje from Reading, Pardew allowed striker Marcus Bent to join Wigan on loan while midfielder Amdy Faye moved to Glasgow Rangers, also on loan.
Wigan becomes Bent's 10th club and Pardew conceded: "I’ve looked at the squad and fortunately I’m very strong in the amount of strikers we have at the club.
"That’s why I allowed Marcus to talk to Wigan when they came in."
Bent, who was among Charlton’s highest earners, cost the club £2 million when he moved to The Valley from Everton in January, 2006. He scored on his debut at Chelsea and recently notched his 100th League goal in the 1-1 draw against Scunthorpe.
Faye’s move to Glasgow ends a miserable time at The Valley where he failed to settle following his £2 million move from Newcastle in the 2006 close-season.
He scored his one and only goal in English football in last season’s solitary away win at Portsmouth.
Pardew said: "Amdy Faye's focus is such that he wants to play in the Premier League and his pedigree suggests that's where he should be playing."
Charlton have also allowed 17-year-old England Under-18 midfielder Joshua Wright to join Barnet on loan while former left-back Nathan Ashton, who was released in the close-season, has signed for Fulham.
