Newcastle United v Charlton Athletic
CHARLTON make the long trip to Newcastle tonight determined to avoid a third straight Barclays Premiership defeat on the road.
The Addicks have been beaten by Tottenham and Manchester City in their two previous away matches and Curbishley wants to stop the slide in a game that was postponed at the 11th hour on Wednesday, December 28 due to icy conditions outside the stadium.
Curbishley said: "I'm looking at this Newcastle game as a chance to stop this away run. We've always had tough games up there, apart from a few exceptions they've always been quite close.
"We go up there in the middle of a tough week. We've only just played Brentford and about 48 hours after the Newcastle game we play Aston Villa at The Valley so it's not ideal, but it's something we have to get on with.
"We've got to try and change this away form and we'll be going all out for that to happen."
Newcastle have won three on the bounce, including Sunday's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Southampton 1-0, since Glenn Roeder took over as caretaker boss following Graeme Souness' departure.
