CHARLTON boss Iain Dowie admits tonight’s Carling Cup, fourth round tie at Chesterfield will not be for the faint-hearted.

The League 1 minnows , who sent Manchester City and West Ham packing in previous rounds, will be looking to prolong an Addicks jinx which on six occasions has seen them fall at the fourth round of the competition.

“These are testing places,” said Dowie, no stranger to Saltergate from his time in charge of Oldham. “It will probably rain, the wind will howl and the experience will tell me an awful lot regarding the character of the side.

“It holds no fears for me because I’ve been to Barrow on a Tuesday night and had meat pies thrown at me. It’s a fanastic story for Chesterfield but also it offers us a fantastic opportunity to reach the advanced stages of the competition.

“We want to go there and get the right result. But I know it will not be a game for faint hearts.

“The salient moments will be the tackles, the willingness to run off people, the willingness to work hard. And we will have to match their work-rate and defend properly because if we do that we will get opportunities.”

Denmark international Dennis Rommedahl is out of the reckoning with a tight groin that forced his substitution in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat of Manchester City.

Dowie has still to decide whether or not to risk leading scorer Darren Bent ahead of Saturday’s trip to Wigan.
