CHARLTON fans favourite Dean Kiely could be reinstated in goal for Charlton as manager Alan Curbishley considers overhauling his defence to face Manchester United on November 19.

Serious questions regarding the team’s defensive resilience were raised as the Addicks’ unblemished away record in the Barclays Premiership was ruined in a sorry performance against Blackburn at Ewood Park.

Kiely, the club’s No 1 who lost his position to understudy Stephan Andersen after breaking a finger during pre-season training, has yet to make a league appearance.

Asked about Kiely’s situation following the 4-1 at Blackburn defeat, Curbishley said: "He’s fit and he’s been fit for the last two or three weeks. He was substitute last week against Bolton, though we took Thomas Myhre with us to Blackburn.

"Dean broke a finger, I brought Andersen in, we had a good run and I decided to keep him in the side. Obviously, Dean was not happy with that but that’s the kind of decision managers have to make.

"I know we’re not going to win every game so when we don’t win that puts pressure on one or two people. So we’ll have to see what the shake-up is."
