And just three days later The Addicks host Manchester United, who they lost 4-0 to at Old Trafford on the last day of the previous campaign in Alan Curbishley's final match in charge.
The Addicks also play champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge early on in the season, on September 9, while their trip to Arsenal is scheduled for New Year’s Day.
Charlton’s Christmas periodwill also see them face a home clash with Fulham on Boxing Day.
The final game of the season, on May 13, will see Charlton travel to Liverpool.
