CHANCELLOR of the Exchequer Gordon Brown said Charlton were a role model for all Premiership clubs during a visit to their training ground.
Mr Brown had been invited to see the pioneering work of the Charlton community scheme by local MP Clive Efford.
He was given a short presentation on the community scheme's work and met three Addicks coaches who have benefited from the scheme themselves, before receiving a club shirt from manager Alan Curbishley.
He said: "This is one of the greatest community schemes involving football you can imagine. It's making a huge difference to young people's lives.
"Other football clubs should be looking at what Charlton are doing."
