Charlton Athletic extended their unbeaten run to five games with a 1-0 victory at struggling Birmingham on Saturday.
Dale Stephens’ tap-in on 56 minutes secured the points after City keeper Darren Randolph’s double save denied Cameron Stewart and Johnnie Jackson.
Addicks skipper Jackson worked Randolph with a header from the first attack of the match but there were few chances for either side before half-time.
Charlton have gone more than seven hours without conceding and while Michael Morrison cleared off the line from Tom Adeyemi during the second half, the defence were rarely troubled.
The win moved Charlton up to 17th, three points clear of Birmingham, who dropped into the relegation zone.
Addicks boss Chris Powell said: “If you keep out the opposition, you will get your chances.
“My only gripe was that it was only 1-0 and I felt 2-0 or 3-0 would have been right. All the players are doing their job and and they fully deserved their win.”
