Ipswich 2 Charlton 0
Charlton's slipped out of the play-off places and into ninth place in the Championship following a third straight defeat in eight days on Saturday at Ipswich.
But manager Alan Pardew issued a rallying cry by declaring: "We're by no means out of this by a long way.
"There are still plenty of points still to play for and plenty of twists and turns still to come.
"This team has proved indifferent at times but it still has the quality to reach levels which others cannot get to."

Charlton were undone by two stupendous Ipswich goals. Owen Garvan struck the first in the 20th minute with a fierce angled drive and substitute Danny Haynes struck the second in the 51st with a spectacular 25-yard drive that gave goalkeeper Nicky Weaver no chance.
In between, Greg Halford sent a header against the underside of the crossbar and Darren Ambrose found the net only to have it ruled out against his old club.
Charlton dominated the second half for long periods but lacked a cutting edge despite Pardew throwing on two strikers for the final 10 minutes in Andy Gray and Luke Varney.
