Addicks swoop for Liverpool keeper

CHARLTON turned to Liverpool’s Scott Carson to solve their goalkeeper problems after losing out to West Ham in the pursuit of Norwich City’s Robert Green.

The Addicks moved for Carson, who was a member of England's World Cup squad, immediately after the Hammers had agreed a £2million deal for Green.

The Anfield club agreed to release him on a season-long loan and he looks certain to make his debut for the Addicks in Saturday’s opening Premiership match at West Ham.

Carson, who turns 21 on September 3, spent three months on loan at Sheffield Wednesday last season. The England Under-21 international believes that by playing regularly in the top flight he will enhance his England international prospects.
