Gills boss Martin Allen admits any more action in the transfer market will be down to chairman Paul Scally.
The Gills snapped up Charlton midfielder Danny Hollands on Thursday on a three-month loan deal.
Defender Michael Harriman, meanwhile, agreed to stay with the club until the end of the season.
Allen is also taking a look at former Brighton midfielder Gary Dicker.
Gillingham’s manager has already highlighted the need to boost numbers but that will only be done if finances allow.
He said: “My job is to look (for players) and ask Mr Scally.
“Mr Scally has the all-important knowledge of the budget and this is a business as well. Everyone has to respect that, the manager, the players and the supporters.
“He runs this business to the best of his ability and I ask about players. If it is a no, then it’s a no, and if it’s a yes like it was this week then happy days.”
The Gills have made money on the transfer market this season, with the sale of Jack Payne, but much of that income was soaked up by the running costs of the club.
Dicker, who has been on trial this season, will be one player waiting to see if an offer is forthcoming.
“We are having a good look at him,” said Allen, who has been watching the player since introducing him to training on Tuesday.
“He is a good player and he comes with a good CV. He is another player we are looking at."
Dicker was playing Championship football last season but isn’t afraid of dropping down a level.
He has also been on trial with Barnsley and Millwall since being released from Brighton.
Speaking to the Brighton Argus this week, he said: “It went well at Barnsley but I can’t wait around really.
“If I have to drop a division I will. I just want to be somewhere I am playing every week. I think that’s all that matters really.”
*Michael Harriman has been called up to the Republic of Ireland under-21 team, which faces Germany at home in a European Championship qualifier, on September 9.
