Gillingham boss Martin Allen believes the winning vibe has returned.

And he has hailed his battlers, with back-to-back victories behind them, as the special ones.

He said: “I said to the players, we are up there with the best. We are history makers and fantastic at what we do, we are special. We have to carry it on now.

“Am I saying I am the Special One like Jose? Of course not. But what has happened has been remarkable and we are certainly not intent on throwing it all away.

“I am not the Special One but it has been a special time. The involvement of the supporters, the staff, all the squad last year and now I have the same feeling back. It’s that same vibe.

"It’s winning, self belief, pattern of play, focus of the players. They train hard and respect each other and it looks like we have turned a big corner."
