Andy Barcham fulfilled a boyhood dream when he scored in the FA Cup first round for Gillingham on Saturday.

Barcham’s second half header proved the difference as the Gills secured a 1-0 win over Bury at Gigg Lane.

He said: “I was very pleased from a personal point of view. It was my first outing in the FA Cup so it was good to get a goal.

“Ever since being a young boy I’ve watched all the greats. You dream of playing in a competition like the FA Cup so to play and score was amazing.

“After I scored I got a lot of messages through on my phone from friends and family. They were very proud.”
