Beaten boxer to consider future

TAKALOO will spend this week considering his future after suffering a disappointing seventh round stoppage by Anthony Small in the Southern Area light middleweight title fight at York Hall in Bethnal Green on Saturday.

The 32-year-old former two-time world champion from Margate was floored three times, before referee Ritchie Davis halted the fight, and there is already speculation that Takaloo, who admitted before the fight that it was a crossroads in his career, could quit.

Takaloo was cut over his left eye as early as the third round, and was then floored by Small's sharp left hook, three left hands in a row put him down in the fourth, and he was on the canvas again when Small connected with a big right-hander three rounds later, with the end coming soon afterwards.

It was Takaloo's first fight since losing his WBU welterweight title against Michael Jennings in Cardiff last April, and while a re-match with Small maybe a possibility, it looks unlikely.
