Bonding sessions in the sun

GILLINGHAM made the most of their week off with a trip to a training camp in Lanzarote.
With Gills out of the FA Cup and their scheduled opponents Sunderland still involved in the competition, the Gills management took the squad abroad to train and allow the new players to bond.
Manager Andy Hessenthaler said: “It was good for bonding and spirit and will help the new lads. Team spirit is what we base our game on.”
Meanwhile, Gillingham's Ian Cox had surgery this week in the hope of curing a problem with his ankle joints. He is expected to be out for up to four weeks.
* The club have offered defender Dean Beckwith and striker Jones Awuah one-year extensions to their existing agreements which expire this season.
* Gillingham play a training game on Monday against Gravesend & Northfleet at their Stonebridge Road ground. The game kicks-off at 7.30pm.
