Boss hails record breaking Charlton side

MANAGER Alan Curbishley has acclaimed Charlton’s club record five straight Premiership away wins as a fantastic achievement.
Dennis Rommedahl’s match-winner in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Portsmouth enabled the side to emulate the previous best set in 1936-37 during Jimmy Seed’s reign.
This latest success on the road leaves the Addicks boasting the top flights only 100 per cent away record after leaders Chelsea were held on Sunday at Everton.
With Champions League holders Liverpool and Arsenal still to win away from home in the League this season, Curbishley said: "Make no mistake, this is an absolutely fantastic achievement."
But he confessed: "I don’t want to get into a situation whereby people think we can only win away and not at home. We should have won at home against Tottenham, which would have made the record at The Valley a lot healthier.
"But you have to take the points as they come along and Portsmouth on Saturday was not the easiest place to go and win, bearing in mind what happened to us last season at Fratton Park."
Away from home, Charlton have scored 11 goals and conceded three while the home record contrasts starkly with one win, one draw and two defeats. Four goals have been scored and six conceded.
