Burton destroys Gate's victory hopes

A LAST minute equaliser killed Margate's hopes of gaining their first win in six games in the Nationwide Conference when they were held to draw at Farnborough on Saturday.

The home side were bottom of the table at kick-off, but started the better of the two sides and when Margate took the lead in the 25th minute it was rather against the run of play.

Jay Saunders and Che Stadhart combined to set up Lenny Piper for his second goal for the club.

Margate rarely threatened to extend their lead, but seemed to be comfortable in defence until Nick Burton pounced to equalise in the last minute. The result moved each side one place up the table, Margate to 17th.

On Saturday Margate take on former Football League side Shrewsburyat Dover's Hoverspeed Stadium.
