Stevenage may be bottom of the league but Cody McDonald won't be taking them lightly on Tuesday night.

McDonald, who scored Gillingham's third goal in a 3-2 win over Port Vale on Saturday, said: “No game is easy. I think we’ve proved that against other teams at the top.

“They probably go into games thinking ‘oh, we can beat Gillingham’ and we’ve managed to turn them over.

“We’re just enjoying our football at the minute and we’ve got to keep performing as we are. If we do that, we’ll keep picking up points.”

Eleven-goal striker McDonald credits boss Peter Taylor for leading Gills up to 11th place in League 1 – eight points clear of the bottom four.

He said: “He’s tactically very good. He knows a lot about the opposition, he gets us ready to play against teams and we’re just much more solid at the minute. We’re hard to break down, we’re catching teams on the break quite well and there’s a lot of pace in our team.

“We’re all thriving and we’re all really enjoying it, so when you’re enjoying playing football, you play your best stuff.”
