ALAN CURBISHLEY: "...it's almost a local derby"

ADDICKS boss Alan Curbishley is confident his side will do well in next month's FA Cup tie against Gillingham at Priestfield.

The match, due to be played on the weekend of Saturday, January 3, will be the first time in more than 20 years that the two sides have faced one another in a competitive fixture.

The fixture bodes well for the Addicks. The last time the Gillingham defeated Charlton was way back in 1929.

Curbishley said: "It promises to be a real cup tie and a difficult game for us. I get down to Priestfield quite regularly and I know Gillingham are a good First Division side.

"Home advantage will help them as well and it is almost a local derby with them in Kent and ourselves in South East London. But we have a good away record this season, so it might not work against us."

* GILLINGHAM season ticket holders can pick up a ticket for the third round clash by visiting the ticket office in Redfern Avenue or by phoning 01634 300000.

Tickets will be not be available from the ticket office between noon and 3pm on Saturday (December 13) when Gills entertain Preston North End.

The ticket office will re-open after the final whistle, however, for people to buy tickets for the Charlton game on Saturday, January 3.

The date tickets will go on general sale has yet to be decided.
