Bradley Dack has enjoyed the change in style since Martin Allen departed Gillingham.

The young midfielder may not have been given many minutes on the pitch by Peter Taylor, during his interim spell, but he’s happier playing a less direct style of football.

Dack, 19, said: “He (Taylor) has been brilliant and got us playing the ball down on the floor and we’ve changed formations. It may have taken a while to come to terms with it but it is coming along and we are doing alright.

“Peter likes the ball to be played on the floor, he likes to get people moving, get people in holes and into the front-men and playing off people whereas Martin Allen was a little more direct. Every footballer likes to play football the right way.

“I am enjoying how we are playing. Every footballer wants to try and play football the right way, which is getting the ball down and passing it, one-twos, getting crosses in the box and getting forward, and that’s what we enjoy. To have someone here that wants us to play like that is a dream come true.”

The attacking midfielder does believe it will take time to adapt to a new way of thinking.
He said: “It does take a little while for a player to get to know and manager and him to get to know the players and how he wants you to play.

“Martin Allen drilled into us what he wanted and it is hard to come out of that straight away. It will take time but we have already shown signs of getting it going, moving the ball quicker and passing. It is working but it does take time.”

Dack has come off the bench in the last three games, with his last start coming against Crawley in early September.

“It’s been frustrating not being in the (starting) team but I just have to keep working hard and hopefully I will get noticed,” he said.
