The DTM German Touring Car series drops Brands Hatch from its calendar in preference for China

The German Touring Car series, DTM, will no longer be racing at Brands Hatch.
For the last seven years Brands has staged the high-profile event and it has been one of the biggest weekends on the circuit’s calendar.
But the DTM organisers are seeking new venues for the 2014 series and won’t be heading to the UK.
The chief executive of Motorsport Vision, who run Brands, Jonathan Palmer said: “We have enjoyed hosting DTM at Brands Hatch for eight years but we have agreed with ITR (DTM’s promoters) that it’s time for the event to move on.
“We wish everyone at ITR well and hope the DTM continues to be a success.”
DTM racing saw famous faces such as David Coulthard and Ralf Schumacher competing at Brands, along with Bromley-born Gary Paffett.
Hans Werner Aufrecht, Chairman of DTM rights holder and promoter ITR, added: “We witnessed great races at these circuits and have to say thank you for the good cooperation. In 2014, however, we want turn towards other interesting markets.”
DTM have also quit the Zandvoort circuit in Holland after a 12 year stay, instead opting for races in Hungary and China.
