Netminder Chris Douglas dislocated his shoulder but played on to help Invicta Dynamos to a crucial win over Chelmsford Chieftains.

Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash was delayed due to crowd congestion and the home fans had plenty to celebrate, as the Mos ended the weekend with two wins from two.

Invicta followed up an 8-5 win over Bracknell Hornets on Saturday by beating Chelmsford 3-2 at Silver Blades on Sunday night. They now sit second in the table, three points behind leaders Chelmsford.

Chelmsford took the lead against the Mos but the scores were levelled through Shaun Wild. Only the bar denied the hosts from taking a second-period lead, as Juraj Huska hit an effort against the frame.

Huska did manage to find the target in the third period and Hammond made it 3-1. Mos’ netminder Douglas went off with nine minutes left after popping his shoulder.

Davey Jackson came on for Douglas but the Mos goalie returned moments later, after his shoulder was returned to its socket, only to eventually succumb to the pain.

Another Chelmsford goal made for a tight finish but Jackson and his team-mates held out for a crucial win.

Callum Fowler – who was absent on Sunday – netted Mos’ first on Saturday against the Hornets and they ended the first 3-2 ahead. There were further strikes from Andy Smith and Daniel Hammond.

Fowler and Smith were on target in the second as the Mos remained narrowly in front, leading 5-4.

The win was sealed in the final period as Fowler completed his hat-trick and there were goals from Huska and Marek Nahlik.
