RAMSGATE's only concern ahead of the new Ryman League season is the fitness of Aaron Firth.

The striker is still worried by the knee problem that hampered him following last season’s move from former Kent League rivals Herne Bay.

Firth is set have a scan on the injury, and manager Jim Ward admitted: “It is a little worrying, because the it hasn’t healed. I hope he will be okay to start. The boy wants to do well here, and feels he let us down last season.”

Ward added “I am ready to go, and I would start tomorrow if I could. I think the squad is packed with potential, with the right blend of experience.

“You never say never about bringing somebody else in, because people want to come to Ramsgate now.

“We finished as the fifth best club in Kent last season, behind Gillingham, Ebbsfleet, Bromley and Welling, and the days are gone when we were just a small little club. The whole place is run so professionally.”
