Sprint sensation Adam Gemili has been named in the GB squad for the World Athletics Championships in Moscow next month.
Dartford ace Gemili leapt to prominence in the two months leading up to the London 2012 Olympics with a series of stunning performances over 100m, but this time it's his 200m prowess which has earned him a spot at a major championships.
The 19-year-old's personal best time of 20.30secs over 200m at Bedford on June 16 was the fastest by a British runner for five years and earned him a spot in the GB team for the trip to Russia.
He is also included in the 4x100m relay team after helping the GB under-23 squad set a European Championship record in Tampere, Finland, last week.
Gemili also claimed under-23 gold in the 100m, but his winning time of 10.20secs was outside the A qualifying standard for the 100m set by UK Athletics and as such the three places in the 100m in Moscow went to Dwain Chambers, James Dasaolu and Harry Aikines Aryeetey.
However there was disappointment for former World 1,500m silver medallist Lisa Dobriskey whose season was ended by a muscle tear sustained during the World trials at Birmingham on Sunday.
Ashford AC ace Dobriskey said on Tuesday morning: "Sadly, the scan picked up a grade three tear so I have no choice but to end my season here."
Hurdler Jack Green, from Hythe, has also ended his season and misses out after making the semi-finals in Daegu in 2011 and London last year, while Tonbridge AC race-walker Tom Bosworth was not chosen for the 20km event.
