WOLVES new boy Nathan Blake dampened Medway spirits as much as the weather as he helped his Wolves side consign Gillingham to their fourth consecutive league defeat.

The Midlands side remain the only unbeaten team in Division 1 after marginally coming out top in scrappy game. Blake opened the scoring and Kenny Miller made it 2-0 before the break.

The Gills were reduced to 10 men early in the second half when Barry Ashby was given a straight red for a professional foul on Blake. A Michael Oakes howler gave Gills hope before Shaun Newton slammed in a rebound to make it 3-1.

Marlon King's sweetly struck penalty deep into injury time was not enough and it was the Wolves fans who went home happy.
