Gillingham v Swansea City
GILLINGHAM manager Ronnie Jepson says the victory over Brentford in midweek shows how positive his players are as the club looks to climb away from the League 1 drop zone.
The Gills face an in-form Swansea side at Priestfield on Saturday and the visitors will be out for revenge after a 2-1 home defeat by Gilligham in January.
But Jepson says his men are confident and the performance on Tuesday will have given everyone a lift.
He said: "There was no negative feeling around the club. We stuck together after [the 6-0 defeat against] Bristol City and the response was smashing. More importantly, it gave the supporters something to cheer.
"When you play collectively as we did on Tuesday, you have a good chance of winning. You can have two or three players a little off their game and the others will pull them through but the other night from one through to 11, I thought we were a different class and deserved the three points."
He added: "I really enjoyed the game, the first half especially, although it did get twitchy bum time late in the second with the sending offs.
"Darren Byfield came back in and did well and the work of Gary Mulligan did not go un-noticed. His hassling and harrying makes space and creates chances for other players. Putting in a performance like that gives the team a buzz and builds confidence."
