Gillingham v Shrewsbury

Gillingham boss Mark Stimson insists that his in-form defenders won’t need any reminding which players offer the biggest threat when they face Shrewsbury at Priestfield tomorrow (Saturday).

Gills will be out to avenge the 7-0 debacle in Shropshire last September and Stimson is confident they can claim a fourth successive home win and a fifth clean sheet in a row.

He said: “The defenders have worked hard and know who poses them the major threat. Grant Holt is a top player at this level.

“Shrewsbury paid big money for him, with wages to match, and Ben Davies takes all the set-pieces and scored two against us up there with great free-kicks.

“We have got to make sure we defend better against them this time and stop the supply to Holt, who is a powerful figure up front.

“That defeat wasn’t the lowest point of my time here – that’s still the FA Cup defeat at Barnet and relegation – but who would have thought we would be where we are now, after conceding seven there.

“It’s not a nice game to remember but it was just one of those things that happen.”

Mark Bentley is making a good recovery after being forced off with a stomach bug against Darlington.

Simon King is expected to shrug off a slight knock, and Andy Barcham will also be involved after impressing as substitute on Tuesday having missed two games with an ankle injury
